If you’re new here, DYRC stands for the Diversify Your Reading Challenge, a challenge dedicated to exploring new genres. Each month, we pick a book from the assigned genre, read it, and then discuss it in on Facebook. Our members are from all over the world and all have different reading styles, but share one thing in common: the desire to diversify their reading!
For February, we’ll be reading from the Romance genre. With Valentine’s Day smack in the middle of the month, February has always screamed ‘romance’ to me, no matter whether I was single or in a relationship; celebrating with the girls or with my husband, or avoiding the holiday all together! With cold, dreary weather in London throughout the month, there’s nothing better than indulging in someone else’s love story, preferably with a glass of wine in hand. There are so many romances that I’m planning to read this month, but I’m especially looking forward to the DYRC pick.
After a vote in the Diversify Your Reading Challenge Facebook group, our February 2019 Romance pick is…
The Kiss Quotient by Helen Hoang
Stella Lane thinks math is the only thing that unites the universe. She comes up with algorithms to predict customer purchases — a job that has given her more money than she knows what to do with, and way less experience in the dating department than the average thirty-year-old.
It doesn’t help that Stella has Asperger’s and French kissing reminds her of a shark getting its teeth cleaned by pilot fish. Her conclusion: she needs lots of practice — with a professional. Which is why she hires escort Michael Phan. The Vietnamese and Swedish stunner can’t afford to turn down Stella’s offer, and agrees to help her check off all the boxes on her lesson plan — from foreplay to more-than-missionary position…Click here to purchase The Kiss Quotient
I’ve heard nothing but rave reviews for The Kiss Quotient and am so excited to read it. To be honest, I’m trying to put it off a bit so I don’t finish it within the first few days of the month. But, I don’t think I can hold off any longer!
More Romance Reads
If you want to join in on the Romance month of the Diversify Your Reading Challenge, but can’t get your hands on The Kiss Quotient, here are some other Romances on my radar:
The Wedding Date
by Jasmine Guillory
The Wedding Date and its sequel, The Proposal, are LOL funny, feature diverse, badass characters, and are a refreshing addition to the Romance genre. You’ll easily read this in one day!
Unmarriageable
by Soniah Kamal
Unmarriageable is labeled as ‘Pride and Prejudice in Pakistan’, so is a must read for any Jane Austen fan! I’m planning to read it alongside Pride and Prejudice this month!
It Ends With Us
by Colleen Hoover
I just read this and it’s one of the most important books I’ve ever read. It Ends With Us is a romance that will tug at every single emotion that you are capable of feeling.
