In terms of brands that have been KILLING it lately, Origins is definitely towards the top of the list. I’m not going to lie – growing up, I thought Origins was for people like my mom. I never felt like it was a ‘young’ brand and they never really did any marketing to appeal to people my age. However, now as I begin to focus more on my skin and how to protect it for the future, I’m finding that Origins is one of my absolute favorite brands! Every product I’ve tried recently has been incredible, and all I want to do is order more products to try. Not to mention, everything smells FANTASTIC!
I recently did a bit of an Origins haul on Feelunique. Feelunique is an awesome website for ordering beauty and skincare products online; without a Sephora in the UK, I find it to be one of the best places for ordering from multiple brands. I went on to order a full size version of the Matte Moisture Perfector (read more below!) and ended up buying so much more! Here’s a look at what I bought, and my first impressions of each product:
Original Skin Matte Moisture Perfector
This technically isn’t a ‘first impression’ since I’ve been living off samples of this Origins Matte Moisturizer but, you guys – I am OBSESSED. This is the one product that I tell pretty much everyone about. My skin has never felt so silky smooth after putting on my moisturizer, and I feel like it’s actually making a difference to my skin’s hydration levels. This doesn’t have any SPF in it, so I usually use it in the mornings if I am home all day, and every evening. I’m also currently using the Retexurizing Mask with Rose Clay and the Pore Perfecting Primer from the same collection and I’m loving them both!
Origins x Madeleine Shaw Glow-Co-Nuts Hydrating Coconut Moisture Mask
Since I’m loving the Original Skin Retexturizing Mask, I’ve been wanting to try more Origins masks. I chose the Origins x Madeleine Shaw Glow-Co-Nuts Moisture Mask since my skin is constantly in need of hydration, and so many people have been raving about this. It smells so wonderfully coconut-y that putting it on is like rubbing a pina colada all over your face! I think I was a bit too conservative in my application the first time I tried this mask, so didn’t have an OMG moment; so, if you’re going to try it, be liberal in your application. It should look like you have a layer of a whipped moisturizer on your face, not like it’s going to soak into your skin. Your skin deserves that nice, tall pina colada!
Flower Fusion Hydrating Sheet Mask Jasmine
Who doesn’t love a good sheet mask? I absolutely love the Sephora sheet masks and how much they can accomplish without breaking the bank, but I haven’t really found any sheet masks to replace them since moving to the UK. I received a free Origins Raspberry Sheet Mask with a recent purchase, so I just had to include a different one in this haul to test it out. The Jasmine Hydrating Sheet Mask smells wonderful and is so refreshing. Now that I’ve tried two of them, I can happily say that these are my new favorite sheet masks. They’re only £5 each and they actually stay on my face once I put them on! I feel like I’m always fidgeting with sheet masks, but these just seem to work. And they smell so good!
GinZing Refreshing Eye Cream
This is another purchase that started with a sample. I’ve been wanting to try in need of eye cream for awhile but never got around to buying any. Over the past couple of months, I’ve been working through samples of both the GinZing Refreshing Eye Cream and the Murad Renewing Eye Cream. I liked both of them, but there’s something about the GinZing Refreshing Eye Cream that nudged me in that direction. First of all, it really is refreshing. I love putting it on the morning! It’s slightly cooling, so I feel it working right away. And it definitely gives my eyes the boost they need in the morning. I don’t know enough about eye cream to recommend this one way or another, but I’ll definitely be using for the foreseeable.
Ginzing SPF40 Tinted Moisturizer
I wore the GinZing Tinted Moisturizer with SPF40 all day when running around for some errands, without any makeup over top, and was pleasantly surprised every time I looked in the mirror. In fact, I loved it so much that I went so far as to take a #nomakeup photo and ACTUALLY post it on the Internet. Here it is:
I wore the Ginzing tinted moisturizer a couple more times after that first day and am now at the point where I don’t really know how I feel. I think I might be using a bit too much, but it’s a lot more tinted than I thought. When I put some on before a barre class the other day (mainly for running around in the sun beforehand), my sweat towel looked as if I had a full face of makeup on! I don’t know if the tint seems heavy because I’m so pale, or if I’m using too much product, but I’m starting to have my doubts about just how subtle the tint is. Definitely not over testing it yet, though, so more to come!
Bonus: Checks and Balances Frothy Face Wash
Feelunique was running a promotion which included a full size (150ml) Checks and Balances face wash after spending £50 on Origins products. As you can probably tell by now, I spent way over £50 and was excited to receive a new face wash as well. I’m a bit fussy when it comes to face washes, and the Checks and Balances face wash falls under what I call the ‘bar of soap’ category. I’m not sure if this happens to everyone or just me, but when I wash my face using a bar of soap, it gets almost rubbery as I’m rinsing, and I find it incredibly hard to rinse everything off. It’s hard to explain, but that’s how the Checks and Balances face wash feels on my face. I haven’t been left feeling as clean and fresh as with other cleansers!
Out of everything I purchased, I’d have to say that the Matte Moisture Perfector is my favorite product, and the Checks and Balances face wash my least favorite (but it was free, so who cares?). I really enjoy trying new skincare products and am loving the Origins brand more and more as I get to know it better. I look forward to trying some more Origins products in the future!
Hopefully you’ve found a new product to try somewhere in this post – let me know how you get on! Also, do you like this format for reviewing purchases? Leave a comment with what you’d like to see in these reviews, and if there are any products you would like me to try out!
Happy pampering!
